I actually posted this on my first blog a few years back, but it is still so relevant in my life so I decided to bring it back! For this post, I chose to write about something that I know EVERY girl thinks about.
In fact, I don’t know a single girl that doesn’t want to be skinny. Every day I hear, “I wish I was skinnier!”, “I look fat in this!”, “Why can’t I look like [insert extremely unrealistic body image icon]?” There are so many fad diets and trends that girls do to try and achieve this level of “skinniness”. The Military Diet, unruly juice cleanses, tea that magically makes you lose weight (??), laxatives, supplement pills. The list goes on and on and let me be the one to tell you, they aren’t going to work!! Yeah, you may lose 5 pounds, 10 if you’re lucky! But this is all temporary. Take it from the girl who tried apple cider vinegar, and Garcinia Cambogia, and every short, “Fast Weight Loss Guaranteed!” diet fad out there. THEY DON’T WORK.
Being healthy is a process.
1.) You must have a healthy mindset. In order to achieve this healthy mindset, you must be secure and know that God made you this way! You are beautifully and wonderfully made.
2.) You must eat a healthy, balanced diet. No, you can’t eat Chic-Fil-A for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Oh, and dessert. That Christian chicken is darn good, but it is not helping you to achieve a balanced diet. Attaining a balanced diet can be tough some times. Luckily for me, I discovered this AMAZING company Hello Fresh. Click here to get $40 off your first box!
With Hello Fresh, I am able to eat healthy without even trying! To avoid going into too much detail in this post, I’m going to do a separate Hello Fresh post for y’all!
3.) You have to be active. I know, sometimes, no matter how much you try and convince yourself, you just do not want to workout. Sweat? Gasp for breath? Wonder if your heart is going to stop beating? Yeah, no thank you. Learn to exercise in a fun way, that excites you!
Being skinny is your reward for being healthy. Once you learn to take care of your body properly, you will be a lot healthier! And it will reward you with gradual, but steady weight loss (and maybe even some muscle gain!) But don’t forget, all of this starts with security in your body.
In the last year, having a healthy mindset, balanced diet, and sweating a little bit every day, I have lost fifteen pounds!! No crazy diet fads, no intense workout programs, none of that. I’ve just lived a healthy lifestyle, enjoying the things I love to do!
